About Stitches of Erie

Hi there, fiber friend!

About the Store

Stitches of Erie arose out of a need for a crafting community store and space in the Erie area. Shortly after owner, Kristen Hydinger, moved to Erie in 2023, the sole remaining LYS at the time closed. Yet it felt like Kristen was meeting new crafters each week - there wasn't a lack of interest in yarn crafts and needlework! Stitches of Erie's mission is to craft community one stitch at a time by offering yarn products, notions, classes, and events. Join us along this journey, both online and in person at the physical shop located on the first floor of the warehouse of Grounded Printshop at 1902 Cherry St., Erie, PA 16508.

About the Owner

I’m Kristen, a crafter who originated in Mississippi, called Boston home for most of my life, and now I live in Erie, PA. I'm the owner and founder of Stitches of Erie. I’ve done some version of yarn craft for almost as long as I can remember (okay, realistically, probably since age 10-ish), and found the most enjoyment out of knitting, followed by cross-stitching and crochet. I love the challenge of a new pattern and making custom pieces unique to each recipient.

Besides crafting, I’m also a spouse, a psychology researcher, a pet mom, an ordained minister (you can often catch me co-leading Erie Episcopal's Radiant Faith services), and a lover of animals!

Thanks for stopping by and supporting local!

About Bridget

Hi, my name is Bridget and I have been crocheting since I was 9 years old. I love to crochet, knit, cross stitch, and embroider.  I never had a knack for drawing or painting but I discovered fiber arts as a way to express myself. I do not have a favorite thing I have made but I love making plushies. It is so much fun to be able to create things with yarn. When I am not crocheting, you can find me somewhere reading or working on another type of fiber art. I have two cats who have their own personalities that make life never boring. I cannot wait to share with everyone the fun things you can make with yarm!
